Low End Theory Wednesdays is a weekly hip hop show at the Airliner in Los Angeles. I attended the hip hop show for my first time a month ago and was pleasantly surprised at the size of the venue and the performances. The in house DJ's such as Daddy Kev and D-Styles, chose to do away with conventionality and made beats on the spot rather than just playing records. Nocando, The host of the show, even freestyle'd to the tracks that DJ Daddy Kev was spinning to entertain the crowd while they waited.
People who attend Low End Theory are avid hip hop heads who are ready and willing to embrace any brand of good hip hop music. There were two performances who stood out to me the most, Homeboy Sandman and Open Mike Eagle. A friend I came with is a fan of Homeboy Sandman and asked him to perform one of his old songs called Lightning Bolt. Homeboy Sandman performed a couple of songs then stopped to address the crowd and say "I usually don't do this song at shows because it's a little more conscious but a fan requested it..." Little did he know that his old song would be his most turnt up and have the crowd jumping up and down screaming "LIGHTNING LIGHTNING BOLT!"
